Following a call for tender by the French National Researchh Agency (l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche) in 2006, the CEA, the CNRS, GrenobleINP, INRIA, and the Univeristy Joseph Fourier decided to pool their efforts to respond more efficiently to the challenges of international competition in technology sectors, thereby creating GRAVIT.
The Univerity Pierre Mendès-France came on board in 2006, the Université de Savoie in 2007, the ESRF in 2009, and the University Medical Center and the Laue-Langevin Institute in 2010.
Today, 10 institutions made up of over 200 laboratories are GRAVIT members:
- Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA)
- CHU Grenoble
- Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)
- European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF)
- Grenoble INP
- Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL)
- Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique (INRIA)
- Université Joseph Fourier
- Université Pierre Mendès France
- Université de Savoie
